Ensemble Classes

Chamber music_edited.jpg

Weekly ensemble classes are an integral part of our program and are organized by level:

  • Level 1 (30 minutes)

  • Level 2 (45 minutes)

  • Level 3 (60 minutes)

  • Level 4 (60 minutes)

  • Adult (60  minutes)

Students work on technical skills, chamber and large ensemble music, and advanced students will have the opportunity to explore techniques in historical performance using period bows. Special workshops with guest teachers occasionally replace regular ensemble classes where students have an opportunity to explore other genres, such as fiddle, improvisation, early music, and jazz. Three times a year, ensemble classes for children (Levels 1-4) are replaced by “Playdown” sessions, during which students play music, games, and participate in other fun activities. Three adult ensembles per year are replaced by Class Concerts, where students are given the opportunity to perform for each other in a relaxed setting.
